Jaipur: Rajasthan higher education department has postponed all the exams and classes of state universities including Rajasthan University (RU) Jaipur till May 31. Other universities include Jai Narayan Vyas University (JNVU Jodhpur), Maharshi Dayanand University (MDSU Ajmer), and Mohanlal Sukhadia University (MLSU Udaipur).  The decision was taken keeping in view the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. The exams of BA and MA final year will take place in the first week of June and the exams of BA and MA first and second years will take place after June 15.

Higher education minister Bhanwar Singh Bhati said that a committee under the supervision of RU Vice-chancellor RK Kothari had been set up to decide the exam dates for college students. The committee gave its report on April 11. On the basis of the recommendations made by the committee, the government has decided to postpone the exams.

“It’s not possible to conduct the exams immediately in the wake of coronavirus spread. We need to evaluate the situation for the next couple of months. Keeping this in view, all the exams and classes for government and private universities across the state have been postponed till May 31. Summer vacations have been declared from April 16 to May 31,” said Bhati.

He added that the exams for BA and MA final years will be conducted in the first week of June, while other exams will be conducted after June 15.

Once the exams are conducted, the government would try to declare results as quickly as possible to minimize the impact of the delay on the academics and career of the students, he added.
