Couple commits suicide by jumping in front of train in Kardhani

Jaipur: A 28-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman committed suicide by jumping in front of a moving train in Kardhani area of the city on Thursday afternoon.  Both were acquainted with each-other for the past few years, according to the preliminary investigation. The police officials said that the statements of the family members are being recorded to ascertain why the couple took the extreme step.

The man, identified as Naveen Kumar Kumawat, was a resident of Ramnagar Extension in Sodala, while the woman – Sunita Meena – lived in Jagatsiromanipura of Muhana area with her family.

Naveen was preparing for competitive examinations. Sunita was working as a lab assistant.

“They used to study in the same coaching centre and knew each-other for the past 3-4 years,” said a senior police officer.

The officer added that the possibility of both being into a relationship is not being ruled out.

It was yet unclear whether the police recovered a suicide note.

“We are trying to find out why they committed suicide. They jumped in front of the moving train near Khirani Phatak in Jagatpura area. A police team was immediately rushed to the spot on getting information about the incident. Postmortem examination of the bodies was conducted. The bodies were handed over to family members. Further investigation is going on,” said the  officer.
