Coronavirus declared epidemic disease in Rajasthan; Regulation comes into effect

Jaipur: The Rajasthan government on Friday declared Coronavirus an epidemic disease and brought into effect Rajasthan Epidemic Disease COVID 19 Regulations 2020. The regulations have been issued under the Epidemic Diseases Act 1867. The district collectors have been given special powers to prevent the spread of the disease. They will be able to take action against those spreading rumours on social media and their directions with regard to medical and health issues will supersede other department officials. A notification in this regard has been issued.
ICMR has designated SMS Medical College (Jaipur), Dr SN Medical College (Jodhpur), SP Medical College (Bikaner) and Jhalawar Medical College as the authorized labs for screening Coronavirus cases and conducting tests. RNT Medical College (Udaipur) has been designated as the authorized centre for collecting samples.
The district collectors will be able to utilize resources of government hospitals as well as private hospitals to prevent the spread of rumours. Collectors and chief medical and health officers in the districts will be able to take necessary preventive measures. Those violating the instructions of the officials empowered in the notification will be subject to legal action under section 188 (45) of IPC.
Those arriving in Jaipur from abroad will need to inform the control room (0141-2225624) and other helpline numbers launched by the medial and health department. The authorities will be empowered to keep these people in isolation for 14 days.
