Cold wave: Schools in Jaipur to remain closed from Jan 9 to Jan 11; District collector declares leaves

Jaipur: The students of classes up to eighth have got leaves for three more days. Jaipur District Collector Dr Jogaram has declared leaves for students studying in classes up to eighth till January 11. The classes for these students had resumed on Wednesday, but as the cold wave gripped the city again the district administration officials held a meeting with met and education department officials and declared leaves for three more days.

“According to the met department, the temperature will drop further over the next two days. It may rain also. The weather is cloudy. It will be difficult for the children to wake up early and get ready for the school. We have decided to declare leaves in all the private and government schools on January 9, 10 and 11,” said a district administration officer.

The officer added that the schools would reopen on January 13 as it’s Sunday on January 12.

“We will hold a meeting with met department officials again on January 11 and decide if the leaves should be extended depending on the weather conditions,” said the officer adding that the classes would be held for students of classes from 9th to 12th.

The winter leaves were to come to an end on January 1, but as the district administration extended the holidays due to the cold weather conditions.
