Churu: Four youths booked for attempting to kidnap and rape Dalit girl in a moving car

Jaipur: A Dalit girl has registered an FIR with the police in Churu after four youths allegedly attempted to kidnap and then rape her in a moving vehicle, according to preliminary reports.

The police have booked four youths for the crime and launched a search for them as they threw the girl out of the vehicle after a crowd of local residents rushed to her rescue and drove away from the spot.

The incident took place at Dudhvakhara bus stand. The girl is a student of a private college. She had completed her graduation from Career College in Churu. She had come to Churu from her village to collect her marksheet and was returning home when the alleged incident took place.

The girl was waiting for a bus when four youths identified as Surjeet Singh, Karnisingh, Shakti Singh and Pratap Singh forced her into a pick-up van. When the girl protested, they tore her clothes and molested her. The girl started shouting for help. They beat her up, but people rushed to the girl’s rescue when they heard the cries, according to the girl’s complaint.

The police would have the girl’s statement recorded before a magistrate, a police officer said.

“We are verifying the girl’s allegations. Statement of eyewitnesses will be recorded,” said the officer.

The FIR was registered with Women’s police station.

The girl had come to the police station with her father.
