Jaipur: A day after 25 employees of a bogus call center for defrauding foreigners, particularly American citizens were arrested, Jaipur police said that they have launched a massive search for one of the kingpins Madeep Singh Jodha who is on the run. Another mastermind Vaibhav Pareek was among those held by the police on Thursday.

The accused people were running a call center out of SK Towner in Jawahar Circle and a flat in Indraprastha Colony. The police seized 20 computers and Rs 19.26 lakh from the Jawahar Circle-situated call center, while 5 laptops and Rs 7.21 were seized from Indraprastha-situated call center among several other things. Those arrested include a woman and belong to various places in Gujarat, UP, Nagaland and Madhya Pradesh.

“Most of these people are school drop-outs, but they underwent extensive training to learn English so that they can defraud foreigners. They would call their victims and either offer a loan or pose as Internal Revenue Service (IRS) officers. They would inform their victims that they were delinquent on tax payments. In order to avoid penalties, the victims were asked to pay them through hawala or bitcoin,” said ACP Vaishali Nagar Rai Singh.

Those arrested were identified as Vaibhav Pareek, Bharat Kawani, Muhim David, Nitin Vashishtha, Shubham Mandal, Surat Rajput, Mintu Chandan Laha, Tangrik Sangama, Darshan Shah, Roshan Raj, Leo Mark, Monil Prafulla Bhai Madhu, Tanmay Trivedi, Ayan David, Sagar Heeralal, Parth Rajesh Mehta, Mahademo, Prateek Jadhav, Surojit, Subham Joshi, Yagraj Kshatriya, Chirag Patel, Deepak Kumar and Pooja.

“Subham Joshi and Pooja would call up foreign citizens posing as Chris and Christina. They were given training on how to dupe their victims by Madeep who is a resident of Sikar. He is on the run. He was the in-charge of the call center in Indraprashta Colony. We have arrested Vaibhav Pareek who was in-charge of the call center in Jawahar Circle. Further investigation is going on,” said the officer.
