Jaipur: Amid a political crisis brewing in the Rajasthan BJP, the state president Satish Poonia said that the party didn’t belong to any individual or family. The Parliamentary Board will decide who will lead the party to victory in the next assembly elections. There was plenty of time to decide that, he said without naming ex-Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje.

Senior party leaders in Rajasthan started making statements either in favour of Raje or against her since her poster was removed from the new hoarding put up at the state BJP headquarters. The hoarding has photos of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP national president JP Nadda and BJP state president Satish Poonia and leader of Opposition Gulabchand Kataria, but the photo of Vasundhara Raje didn’t make it. Many local leaders took it as an indication of Raje’s waning influence in state politics and started making statements in her favour.

Poonia was replying to a question about the ongoing tussle over the party leadership in the state. Poonia was on a tour to Mewar on Sunday to campaign for the ‘Sewa Hi Sangharsh Abhiyan’. Poonia visited Chittorgarh and Pratapgarh.

He said that the current focus of the party was to prepare a strategy for the upcoming by-election for two assembly seats.

Poonia said that the people of the state were feeling cheated due to the ongoing power tussle in the Congress party in Rajasthan. He said that the Congress leaders are embroiled in a tussle at a time when the state was suffering from the pandemic.
