Barmer collector, SP among five injured in road accident in Baytu
The officials were returning to Barmer after inspecting preparations for the foundation stone ceremony in Pachpadra. A gunman and the car’s driver were also injured.

Jaipur: Barmer district collector Shivprasad Madan Nakate and superintendent of police (SP) Dr Gagandeep Singla were among the five people who were injured when the car they were travelling in overturned after a collision with a pick-up in Baytu area of Barmer district on Wednesday night.
The officials were returning to Barmer after inspecting preparations for the foundation stone ceremony in Pachpadra. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for the oil refinery on January 14.
Others who were injured include the car’s driver Kaushalaram and gunman Prakash. The pick-up driver Hanef Khan was also injured.
The mishap occurred near Dudava village near Baytu.
On Wednesday, Rajasthan transport and PWD minister Yunus Khan had visited Pachpadra. He took a meeting of district-level officials to take stock of the prepearing being made for the PM’s visit on January 14. District collector Shivprasad Madan Nakate and SP Dr Gagandeep Singla also attended the meeting.
Both the officials left for Barmer in the official car belonging to the district collector. The collector and SP were in the back seat of the vehicle, while the gunman was in the front seat.
The collector and SP were rushed to a hospital in Barmer where they were given primary treatment and discharged.
The driver was referred to a hospital in Jodhpur after primary treatment at a local hospital due to his critical condition.
The pick-up driver is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Baytu.
