ASI among two killed in hit-and-run accident in Jaipur

The mishap occurred around 1 am on Thursday. After getting information about the accident, the police rushed Ratan Singh and another passenger in the car to a nearby hospital. Both were declared brought dead by the doctors.

Jaipur: Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Ratan Singh who was posted at Dudu police station in Jaipur rural, and a youth were killed when the car they were traveling in was hit by an unidentified vehicle on 200 Feet Bypass in Karani Vihar area on Wednesday night. The unidentified vehicle sped away from the spot in this hit-and-run accident. The police are trying to identify the vehicle on the basis of the footages from CCTVs installed in the area.

The mishap occurred around 1 am on Thursday. After getting information about the accident, the police rushed Ratan Singh and another passenger in the car to a nearby hospital. Both were declared brought dead by the doctors. The police are trying to identify the other victim in the accident.

Senior police officers rushed to the hospital when they came to know about the death of ASI Ratan Singh in the accident.

It has come up during preliminary investigation that Ratan Singh was investigating a fraud case and had gone to Basawa for investigation. After completing the probe, Ratan Singh was returning to Dudu in a car along with another man when the mishap occurred near Gandhi Path on 200 Feet Bypass. The police suspect that the man who was killed in the accident could be someone related to the fraud case that the ASI was investigating.

Sources said that the police are yet to know the vehicle that rammed into the car in which the two victims were travelling.

The bodies of the victims have been put in the mortuary of SMS Hospital for a postmortem examination. The police informed the family members following which they rushed to the hospital. Further investigation to identify the car involved in the mishap is going on.
