JAIPUR: A tragic incident occurred at Sri Venkateswara Zoological Park in Tirupati district of Andhra Pradesh, where a 38-year-old man from Alwar, Rajasthan, identified as Prahlad Gurjar, died after jumping into the lion’s enclosure in an attempt to take a selfie.
Gurjar climbed over a wall that was more than 25 feet high and entered an area not open to the general public.
Before he could take a selfie, one of the lions in the enclosure attacked him, dragging his body and tearing it apart.
Officials from the zoological park have confirmed that Gurjar was alone when he entered the park on Thursday. The police have been informed of the incident and have sent the body for autopsy to determine if Gurjar was under the influence of alcohol at the time of his death.
According to zoo officials, Gurjar jumped into an enclosure where three lions reside, including one female and two male lions.
One of these lions attacked Gurjar before any action could be taken by caretakers present nearby.
