Jaipur: The police have arrested the father-in-law in the sensational murder of Usha Devi in Shahjahanpur area of Alwar district. The accused, Mamraj Rajput had hacked the woman to death in full public view because he was against Usha taking up a private job. He wanted her to stay at home and look after daily household chores.
The police arrested Mamraj from a hilly area near Dhondhakari village in the area late on Thursday. Five police teams were formed to trace him. The police got a tip off that the accused man was trying to escape in a truck. A team was immediately rushed there and the accused was round up. He was later arrested for homicide.
On Wednesday, Usha left home and was walking to her workplace, a factory where she worked. Near a flyover, Mamraj came brandishing a sword and hacked his daughter-in-law to death. Many people witnessed the horrifying murder, but no one intervened. Usha was bleeding profusely and declared brought dead by doctors. Mamraj escaped from the spot.
He allegedly told the police during interrogation that he didn’t want her to work. He was trying to stop her from going to work on a day nearly six months ago, but Usha retaliated and beat him with her footwear. The man was seeking to take revenge since then.
“The man has been arrested and booked for homicide. The woman’s husband has registered an FIR against Mamraj. Further investigation is going on,” said a police officer.
