Jaipur: Rajasthan anti-corruption bureau (ACB ) on Sunday arrested a mining engineer, identified as Vijay Shankar Jaipal, and two middlemen in Alwar after they were allegedly caught red-handed carrying a bribe amount of Rs 5.98 lakh. An ACB spokesperson said that the mining engineer was taking the bribe through these two middlemen from a lot of miners. It has also come up that he was allowing illegal mining in the area.

According to the ACB, mining engineer Vijay Shankar Jaipal is a resident of Bikaner and was posted as a mining engineering in Alwar.

“We had been receiving complaint against him for a long time. We decided to trap him red-handed,” said an ACB officer. The ACB verified the complaints and then arrested the two middlemen, identified as Deepak and Mukesh who the mining engineer used for staying under the ACB radar when accepting bribes from minors. The two middlemen had gone to Bikaner to hand over the money allegedly collected from miners to the mining engineer. Vijay was staying at a rented accommodation in Bikaner.  He asked the two men to come to a place near the local bus stand. He took the money from the duo and was taking it away on his bike when the ACB team intercepted him.

“The trio has been booked under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act. Further investigation is going on,” said the officer.
