Jaipur: A joint team of Rajasthan ATS and SOG on Saturday arrested seven members of a gang involved in duping aspirants of agriculture supervisor exam 2019 held on Sunday.

These men were demanding Rs 7 lakh from each student on the pretext of providing question paper before the exam. It led to reports of paper leak, but the officials said that the gang was duping the students. The accused men didn’t have access to the questions which appeared in the exam on Sunday.

Signed cheques, stamps, original documents of aspirants, blue tooth devices, admit cards and a cash amount of over Rs 5 lakh were recovered from the gang members.

The exam was conducted in Jaipur and Kota on Sunday. Those who were arrested include Ganpat Choudhary (25), Ramprasad Chopra (41), Omprakash Jat (25), Kailash Chand Yadav(24), Anil Kumar Yadav (35), Bannaram Jat (34) and Sudhir Kumar Choudhary (24). Ramprasad is former zila parshad and a resident of Shahpura area in Jaipur. Most of the gang members are residents of Jaipur and nearby areas in the district.

According to senior police officers, the gang members were conning students after promising to provide them with original examination paper before the exam. They also promised to help them cheat and secure a position in the merit. They were taking some money in advance, while asking the candidates to pay the rest of the amount after their selection.

The officials are interrogating the accused men and said that an investigation has been launched to ascertain if other people were involved in the scam.
