Jaipur: After days of steady decline, Jaipur for the first time in two months logged 44 fresh cases of the coronavirus on Thursday.
Health officials informed The PinkCity Post that since January onward, new cases had begun to drop with February achieving the lowest 22 cases a day benchmark, which rekindled hopes of the pandemic slowing down.
Since March onward, however, hospital wards are filling up again with patients reporting complications due to coronavirus cases. Sources attributed the resurgence of the coronavirus to the people increasingly becoming less concerned about the severity of the virus. Since the beginning of this month, Jaipur has been reporting daily 30 cases.
“A large number of people have assumed that the beginning of the vaccination process portent the end of the pandemic, which is not the case. The hope infused by the vaccines should not make people careless,” an official said.
On Thursday, 13 cases were reported from Jawahar Nagar, Sodala reported 3 cases while Ajmer road, Malviya Nagar, Tilak Nagar and Tonk Road reported 2 cases each.
There is a growing worry within the district administration that people are increasingly distancing themselves for masks, and use of sanitizers, instead family functions and events are organised without people paying attention to covering their faces and keeping a distance.
