Assistant commissioner of police Kailash Bohra arrested for seeking sexual favours from a rape victim.

Jaipur: A day after ACP Kailash Bohra after he was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for allegedly seeking sexual favours from a rape survivor, the Rajasthan government on Monday said it will terminate the police officer.

Cabinet minister Shanti Kumar Dhariwal said that the government will terminate Bohra from Rajasthan police service. He was already suspended on Monday morning.

Bohra had asked the woman to come to the DCP (East) office on Sunday when the premise was deserted due to a government holiday. He had closed the room and before he could attempt anything, the ACB officials who lay in hiding barged into the room and nabbed the accused after rescuing the woman.

A visibly shaken Bohra fell unconscious after he saw over a dozen ACB cops swarming the room, “We brought him some water to wake him up. Fully realizing the enormity of the situation, he began whining saying that he was finished,” an official who was part of the raiding unit said.

ACB has electronic evidence which shows that the accused had been persistently calling the woman, asking her to visit him after office hours, and spoke to her in an allegedly immodest manner.

Bohra was inducted into Rajasthan police as an inspector in 1996; two years ago, he was promoted to the rank of Rajasthan police service (RPS), recently the court had ordered a CBI enquiry against Bohra and a dozen other cops in a 2010 Arms Act case.

Bohra was posted in Jaipur as ACP of a special unit that probes women atrocity cases. His arrest besmirched the Jaipur police’s image raising concerns if senior officers were aware of the ACP’s immoral conduct.

ACB officials said rape survivor in her complaint to the agency alleged that Bohra initially demanded a bribe for acting on her FIR, however, he later sought sexual favours and coercing her to visit him after office hours.

After her complaint, the ACB officials formed a special team led by Additional SP,Narrotam Verma which verified the allegations and laid a trap to arrest the accused.

“The team raided Bohra and arrested him in a compromising situation, right before he was intending to make physical relationship with the complainant,” an official informed.

The accused was arrested under relevant sections of the prevention of corruption act and taken into ACB’s custody. The ACB officials said that they have all important evidence to corroborate Bohra’s involvement in demanding sexual favors in return for acting on a FIR.
