Suicide

Jaipur: A 47-year-old constable, identified as Ajay Kumar Choudhary, jumped in front of a moving train and committed suicide near Khiradi railway crossing in Jhotwara area on Tuesday.

The constable was on suspension for the past two years and was being investigated by the ACB. He had been accused of demanding cash and a bottle of red wine to reopen a fraud case. Ajay left a suicide note in which he stated that no one was responsible for his extreme step.

Ajay hailed from Srimadhopur town in Sikar district and lived in Arya Nagar of Muralipura with his four children and wife. He left his home on his bike to register his attendance at the police lines on Monday afternoon and then disappeared. When he didn’t return home till late night, his family members launched a search for him. They kept calling him up on his cellphone, but he didn’t respond.

“Some people informed us about a body around 4 am on Tuesday. A team was immediately rushed to the spot. The victim was identified as Ajay Kumar Choudhary. His family members were immediately informed,” said a police officer.

It is suspected that Ajay was under depression since he was trapped by ACB in February, 2017. He was suspended. Another constable Shivkumar had taken the bribe of Rs 50,000. Shivkumar had also committed suicide last year. Ajay had escaped when the ACB was searching the DCP office. ACB sought prosecution section from the police department, but its request was denied. Ajay surfaced; however, was suspended.
