ACB trap in Sriganganagar: Add SP, middleman arrested for taking bribe

Jaipur: Rajasthan anti-corruption bureau (ACB) on Tuesday arrested add SP of Raisinghnagar in Sriganganagar and a middleman after they were allegedly caught taking a bribe of Rs 1 lakh, according to senior ACB officials.
DG ACB Alok Tripathi said that one Didar Singh approached the agency and registered a complaint in this regard.
“The complainant said that he had a dispute with his wife. He accused his wife of encroaching upon his house and illegal stay. He approached additional SP Amrit Lal who demanded Rs 1 lakh to register a case and take action against the complainant’s wife. The officer was paid this amount by the complainant,” said DG, ACB.
The officer added that the complainant’s wife also approached Amrit Lal. “The add SP demanded Rs 2 lakh from her for not taking any action against her and helping the couple reach a compromise in the case. The ACB initiated a probe in the matter,” said the officer.
He said that an ACB team verified the complaint and laid a trap.
The ACB team arrested the middleman Anil Kumar who was taking the bribe of Rs 1 lakh out of the total Rs 2 lakh on behalf of add SP Amrit Lal.
“The bribe amount was recovered from Anil Kumar. Both Amrit Lal and Anil Kumar were arrested under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act. Further investigation is going on,” said the officer.
The ACB produced the duo in a court that remanded them in judicial custody.
