Jaipur: The Rajasthan anti-corruption bureau (ACB) on Monday arrested Dr Aditya Atreya – deputed as Registrar at State Institute of Health and Family Welfare (SIHFW) after he was allegedly caught red-handed taking a bribe of Rs 50,000. According to ACB officials, he was demanding the bribe to approve bills for the canteen situated in SIHFW. The canteen contractor approached the ACB and registered a complaint following which the trap was laid. The registrar has been booked under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act. Further investigation is going on.

The complaint was registered by one Pawan Kumar Sharma, a resident of Siddharth Nagar in Jagatpura. He runs a canteen in SIHFW building in Jhalana on a contractual basis. He presented the bills to Registrar Dr Aditya who allegedly demanded Rs 50,000 to approve them and get the payment released to him.

The ACB verified the complaint and when found it genuine, a trap was laid under the supervision of DSP ACB Chitragupta Mahavar.

“Dr Aditya Atreya was caught red-handed accepting the bribe. He was booked and arrested. He will be produced in a court on Monday,” said an ACB officer.

The officer added that searches were going on at the accused officer’s office, residence and other places belonging to him.
