Jaipur: Jaipur was a major trading location for Marwari businesses in India. Johari Bazar

The bustling lanes of Johari Bazar may give you an impression of yet another market of the old city. Purohit Ji ka Katla

Don’t let the narrow alleys and crammed spaces of this market unnerve you; it’s indeed the capital of dress markets. Much before the advent of malls and fancy wedding shops, Purohit Ji ka Kalta boasted of shops that sold some of the best embroidery works anywhere in Rajasthan.  In fact, many shops here are mostly engaged in export and import of fabrics. Lehengas and bandhej of this small market draws customers from as far as Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata. 

Bapu Bazar

Handmade or cottage industry of Jaipur has thrived despite fierce competition from rival cheap retail products. The sturdy quality of mojaris (juttis), leather purses and bags designed with aesthetic sense, has only dominated the niche market,  Bapur Bazar is distinct for that same reason; it offers products of niche cottage industries at reasonable prices. Kishanpole Bazar

One of the major reasons big malls never made quite a big success in Jaipur is largely due to many sprawling bazaars with their spacious varandhas that put the city on the world’s shopping map. Kishanpole bazar is one of the major markets of the city which thrived due to tourism. Some of the best decorative items, wooden and marble handicrafts, metal jewellery etc can only be found here. Tripolia Bazar

Another bustling shopping lane is Tripolia bazar, located in the old city area of Jaipur; it has long held the distinction of a major trading capital of Jaipur. Gaurav Tower

One of the first ever modern malls built in the city, GT has everything from computer appliances, to mobile phones, from gyms, fast foods to shoes. Many youngsters continue to throng the mall regularly due to its proximity to many colleges, the mall also organises shopping carnivals on Diwali, Christmas and New Year.

World Trade Park

The sprawling mall is located on one of the central roads of Jaipur, JLN Marg. Since its inception, it has hosted almost all luxury brands under one roof. It has everything that a mall has to offer from movie theatres to food courts to book shops.

MI Road

The market on either side of this broad road has major jewellery shops, two important book shops, and metal and handicraft showrooms.
