Rajasthan budget 2021-22 to be tabled in assembly tomorrow

Jaipur: Chief minister Ashok Gehlot who also holds the finance portfolio will table the Rajasthan budget 2021-22 on Wednesday. This will be the first paperless budget presentation in the assembly as Gehlot will read out the budget speech from a tablet device.

This is the first budget of the Ashok Gehlot government post COVID-19 lockdown, so people are expecting the budget to focus on medical and health infrastructure as well as announcements for farmers keeping in view the ongoing farmers’ agitation.

Some major announcements including a reduction in DCL rates to give the real estate sector a boost, announcement of about 20,000 more government recruitments, and introduction of more COVID-19 test labs in the area state are expected.

The people are also expecting announcements regarding the extension of the second phase of Jaipur Metro. A detailed project report (DPR) is to be prepared for the extension work.

Announcement of loan waiver and short-term crop loans for farmers is also on the cards. CM Gehlot had recently made it clear that the welfare of farmers will be a priority in the budget.

The budget will also likely make provisions for new community and primary health centres. The focus will be to strengthen the infrastructure and manpower by opening new medical facilities and recruiting medical staff.
