Tragic road accident near Salasar: 7 die as car collides with truck on NH-58

Jaipur: At least seven people were killed when the car they were travelling in collided with a truck on NH – 58 near Salasar in Churu district on Monday. Police officials said that dense fog conditions and overspeeding might be the reason behind the mishap. Five of the victims were residents of a village near Fatehpur. The SUV was trying to overtake an overloaded truck when the mishap occurred. The police have identified the victims and handed over the bodies to family members after a postmortem examination.

A police team from Salasar police station rushed to the spot after getting the information about the road accident. By the time the victims were rushed to the spot, at least seven of the eight people travelling in the SUV had died. SP Tejaswini Gautam also arrived at the spot and supervised the rescue operation.

All the victims were in their twenties. Some of them were identified as Imran Khan, Mohammed Imran, Gaji Khan, Iqbal, Islam Khan, Rafeeq and Babu Khan. While Rafeeq and Babu Khan were residents of Fatehpur town, the five other victims belonged to Rolsabsar village. One Khushi Mohammed who was injured in the mishap is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Sikar.

The officials said that they have launched an investigation what caused the accident. They said that fog had reduced visibility on the road in the morning.
