Udaipur: 3 children die in school wall collapse

Jaipur: Three children aged between 6 and 32 years were killed after the wall of their school in Kherwada area of Udaipur district caved in on Saturday. The incident created panic in the school. The teams of police and administration officials arrived at the school to launch a rescue operation, but the children died on the spot.

The incident took place in the Government Upper Primary School in Thobavada. The victims were identified as Ayush (5), Avinash (9) and Manisha (13). While Manisha was class 8 student, Ayush and Avinash studied in class 1 and 4 respectively.

Other children and teaching staff saw the children buried under the debris after the wall collapse incident and rushed to their rescue. They removed the debris. The villagers and police teams also arrived at the spot. By the time the children were pulled out of the debris, they had died of suffocation and injuries.

The bodies were put in the mortuary of a hospital for a post-mortem examination. Police officials said that the administration has launched an investigation to ascertain what caused the wall to collapse.

The incident shocked the villagers. The family members of the deceased children were inconsolable.
