BSF martyr from Jaipur – Jitendra Singh – said no to IAS to protect the nation’s borders
Jitendra could have become an IAS officer. He had in fact cleared RAS-pre examination and UPSC mains, but instead he always dreamt of serving the nation.

Jaipur: BSF assistant commandant Jitendra Singh had always been very good at studies. He could have become an IAS officer. He had in fact cleared RAS-pre examination and UPSC mains, but instead he always dreamt of serving the nation. He didn’t even appear in the UPSC interview because he got an offer to join the BSF. He jumped on the opportunity without thinking twice. Nearly 10 years later, Jitendra sacrificed his life. His body wrapped in tricolor arrived at Jaipur International Airport on Wednesday night.
Jitendra’s mother drifted in and out of consciousness. Younger brother Deepak Singh broke down at the sight of his body. His 3-year-old son Yash is yet to fully realize what have actually happened. He remained in the laps of his uncle ever since the family was delivered the news that Jitendra was killed by Pak rangers in unprovoked firing in Jammu’s Samba district on the international borders on Tuesday night.

Jitendra did PHD in public administration from Rajasthan University. He completed his PHD just two months ago. He had come to Jaipur from Jammu at that time.
“He had been a brilliant student, an obedient son, a good husband, a great parent and above all a patriot,” a relative told The PinkCity Post.
The relative said that ever since he completed his senior secondary education, he wanted to join the armed forces and wanted to protect the national at the international borders.

“He cleared RAS-pre exam in 2007. He then cleared UPSC mains the next year. He didn’t even appear in the interview because he was recruited in the BSF. There was no conflict in his mind that he wanted to serve his country. He was a true patriot,” said the relative.
Jitendra originally hails from Salempur village in Bharatpur, but his parents and younger brother moved to Jaipur a few years ago. They bought a house in Rajat Path area in Mansarovar.
Father Samundra Singh and mother Sumitra Devi visited Jitendra in Jammu. His wife Renu Singh and son Yashvardhan Singh lived with Jitendra in Jammu.
“Jitendra had seen them off on Tuesday. As soon as they arrived at Jaipur railway station, they got the news of Jitendra’s death in the firing,” said the relative.
The body arrived at Jaipur airport wrapped in tricolor on Wednesday. He was accorded guard of honor. His body was then taken to his native village in Bharatpur for last rites.
Born on December 1, 1986, Jitendra joined BSF as an assistant commandant in 2010.
The firing took place in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday night. Four BSF personnel were killed, three of them from Rajasthan.
