JAIPUR: The Poornima Institute of Engineering and Technology (PIET) hosted the coveted G20 Celebration themed ‘Innovation and Entrepreneurship’, bringing together over 200 innovators and entrepreneurs on their Jaipur campus on Thursday.
The G20 College Event, an initiative of the Ministry of HRD, was designed with the aim of raising awareness about the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) among the student community.
The event successfully drew together students, experts, and representatives from various fields to discuss, showcase, and celebrate initiatives towards innovation and incubation in technical education.
The gathering witnessed an engaging panel discussion on ‘Holistic Education, Innovation and Incubation in Technical Education’, giving an opportunity for students, entrepreneurs, and industry experts to exchange ideas.
Esteemed panelists included industry stalwarts such as Paresh Gupta, Founder of GCEC Global Foundation; Prof. Abhayjeet Singh, Co-Founder of ImaginXP; Arun Kumar, Co-Founder of Sincgrid and Dr. Trilok Kumar Jain, Dean of Management Programs at SGV University.
Moderated by Dr. Dinesh Goyal, Director of PIET, the panel stressed the importance of innovation and staying up-to-date in the rapidly evolving world.
Highlighting the interaction between ‘Innovation and Society’, a project exhibition showcased pioneering works by engineering students.
These included gas leak detection systems, portable washing machines, intelligent walking shoes, smart sticks for the visually impaired, voice-controlled wheelchairs, obstacle-avoiding cars, and smart vacuum cleaners.
The event also witnessed a vibrant poster competition, featuring themes such as ‘One World, One Family and One Future’, ‘Innovation & Society’, and ‘Millets and its Importance’.
Students used creative illustrations to communicate insightful messages on these themes. Simultaneously, a speech competition centered on the theme ‘One World, One Family and One Future’, further enriching the discourse.
Dr. Dinesh Goyal noted that the G20 College Event, with its focus on ‘Innovation and Entrepreneurship’, aimed to increase student awareness of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The event successfully underscored the importance of innovation and entrepreneurship in achieving these objectives.
