JAIPUR: The government is gearing up to address the issue of resident doctors who are participating in protests in public hospitals, as these actions have begun to disrupt patient care at government hospitals.

In response to the situation, the Medical Education Department has issued an order to all medical college principals, instructing them to take appropriate action against resident doctors who have been found to mistreat patients’ relatives, cause damage to state property, or neglect their duties during the ongoing agitation. This action may include cancelling the registration of the offending doctors.

In an effort to maintain transparency and ensure proper staffing levels, medical educators at all medical colleges have been directed to submit daily attendance records of doctors, residents, paramedical staff, and nursing staff working in affiliated hospitals by 9:30 am each day.

The leave requests of all doctors and staff will now need to be approved by either the principal or hospital superintendent. Leaves will only be granted under special circumstances, and any approved leaves must be reported to the Medical Education Department headquarters.

The ongoing strike has impacted public hospitals and private hospitals as resident doctors have been participating in the strike for the past week. Consequently, hospital operations in medical colleges have been significantly affected.

Resident doctors play a crucial role in managing the care of patients admitted to outpatient departments (OPDs) and wards. With their continued involvement in the strike, patients across the state will likely face considerable challenges in accessing healthcare. Treatment at private hospitals has already come to a standstill due to the ongoing protests.

After the warning, many resident doctors returned to work at SMS Hospital.
