9-year-old commits suicide when father doesn't attend PTM

Barwani (Madhya Pradesh): Hurts over his father not making it to the parents-teachers meeting (PTM) at his school, a nine-year-old boy committed suicide by hanging himself. The incident occurred in Madhya Pradesh’s Barwani district. The child tied a rope to their kitchen’s window and hanged himself.

The child, Shivam Tomar, was a class III student at a boarding school in Lonsara village in the district. His parents were supposed to attend the meeting on Thursday. Shivam was home and due to return to his hostel on Friday after spending his Christmas holidays with the family.

He was so hurt when his parents didn’t attend the PTM that he first attempted to kill himself by jumping from the rooftop of his house, but his sister Arpita saw him and managed to intervene. After failing at his first attempt, the boy went into the kitchen, found a rope, tied it to the window and then hanged himself.

When the family members saw him hanging, they rushed him to a hospital and informed the police. He was declared brought dead. The body was handed over to the family members after a postmortem examination.
