Jaipur: Come April 11 and the cricket extravaganza in Jaipur will begin, after a wait of almost two years. The first Indian Premier League (IPL) match will be played between Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Daredevils at SMS Stadium in Jaipur on April 11.
Many Jaipurites told The PinkCity Post that the wait of two months for the first match would be difficult to stand.
“We have been waiting for the matches in Jaipur for almost two years. Now we have to wait two more months. But the thing is we will finally get to watch Rajasthan Royals in action and this is just great,” said Sumit Rajpurohit, a resident of Sodala.
Here is the schedule of the matches that are to be played at SMS Stadium in Jaipur:
April 11 (8 pm): Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Daredevils
April 18 (8 pm): Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders
April 22 (8 pm): Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians
April 29 (4 pm): Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad
May 8 (8 pm): Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab
May 11 (8 pm): Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings
May 19 (4 pm): Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore
Rajeev Khanna, vice president of Rajasthan Royals, said the matches are finally happening in Jaipur and it is great news for cricket lovers of the city.
Following the BCCI ban, the matches were not happening in Jaipur for the past two years.
Here are a few reasons we can’t wait for the matches to begin:
Guruji Shane Warne to mentor the team, again!
The legendary Australian cricketer Shane Warne will mentor Rajasthan Royals. Under his leadership, Rajasthan Royals had a title run in the inaugural IPL way back in 2008. Jaipurites will get to see him on the grounds while training the team before the matches.
Kumar Mangalam Birla’s son is with us
Aryaman Vikram Birla is playing for Rajasthan Royals. It would be interesting to see him play. For the son of billionaire-industrialist and the chairman of the Aditya Birla Group Kumar Mangalam Birla, it would be a great chance to step out of his father’s shadow and carve a name for himself.
Many budding and established players
Youngsters like Sudhesan Midhun, Ankit Sharma, Mahipal Lomror and Prashant Chopra will get an environment where they can hone their cricketing skills and take this as an opportunity to prove themselves on the big stage. Mahipal Lomror, the Rajasthani lad is in the home team and will get to rub shoulders with the best of Indian and international players. Unadkat – the left-arm pacer from Saurashtra who was the most expensive Indian buy in the auction this year – is also playing for Rajasthan Royals.
So are you going to be at SMS Stadium on April 11?
