3 new sports schools in Rajasthan soon

Jaipur: The Rajasthan government will open three new sports schools in Jaipur, Udaipur and Sikar. The education department has sent a proposal to the state government in this regard. These schools will focus on mentoring talents in various sports. The budget of each of these schools will about Rs 4.30 crore.

“Currently there is only one sports school in the state – Sardul Sports School, Bikaner. In some other states including Haryana, Punjab, Delhi and Gujarat, there are several sports schools. We are also planning to open three new sports schools to give children a platform to develop their talent in sports,” said a senior education department officer.

He added that the schools will feature hostels, playgrounds for different sports and kits among other facilities for the children who was to make a career in sports.

“The children will study, live and play free of cost. The children will play in tournaments at the district, state and national level,” said the officer.

In Sardul School in Bikaner, the children are honing their skills in 12 different sports.

“The state government bears the cost of accommodation, food and study for the children studying in the Bikaner school. The same is being planned for the three other schools in the state,” the officer added.
