2 including woman arrested for honey-trapping policeman

Jaipur: Two persons including a woman were arrested for extorting a police constable after framing him in a rape case, Vidhyadhar Nagar police said. The accused couple took Rs 3 lakh from the constable after accusing him of rape and lodged an FIR. After the police constable was arrested and sent to jail, the accused demanded Rs 20 lakh from him for changing the woman’s statements. The couple had already got the payment of Rs 17 lakh. Vidhyadhar Nagar police allegedly trapped the duo taking Rs 50,000 from the constable on Thursday.

The woman, identified as Suman Saini and her paramour Manoj Kumar Gurjar stay in a rented accommodation near Todi Mod in Harmara area. The woman has a 1-year-old child.

Suman lodged an FIR against police driver Rohitash Meena with Vidhyadhar Nagar police station in 2017. The cops arrested constable Rohitash. He was remanded in judicial custody and released on bail one-and-a-half months later.

Suman demanded Rs 20 lakh to turn hostile in the case. When Rohitash said that he didn’t have money, the gang took out a loan of Rs 12 lakh in his name and transferred the money to her bank account.

“The gang had extorted Rs 17 lakh and were demanded Rs 6.5 lakh more,” said a police officer.

Omprakash used to live as tenant in Rohitash’s house. Omprakash introduced the police constable to Suman who started blackmailing him.

“There are more people involved in the racket. Suman registered some other rape cases with Samod and VKI police stations. The gang used to extort people. Further investigation is going on,” said the officer.
