In an order issued by the state home department, 78 Additional Superintendent of Police (ASPs) were transferred. In a separate order issued by the police headquarters (PHQ), 103 Deputy Superintendents of Police were reshuffled.

The transfer list came out shortly before the state election commission announced election schedule for 90 civic bodies in Udaipur, Nagaur and Jhunjhunu. The voting will take place on January 28. The counting of votes will take place on January 31. Of these civic bodies, one is a municipal corporation, 9 nagar parishads and 89 nagar palika (municipalities).

The Congress’s performance in the municipal elections has been below expectations. The transfers of IAS, IPS, RAS and RPS officers were announced before the model code of conduct was to come into force with the announcement of the election schedule.
