1185 illegal weapons and 7 IEDs seized in Rajasthan ahead of Lok Sabha elections

To prevent any disturbances or incidents during the elections, the police and other agencies have identified over 4,000 suspicious individuals in different Lok Sabha constituencies.

JAIPUR: In an effort to ensure peaceful elections, the Rajasthan police and other agencies have taken action against illegal weapons and suspicious individuals.

According to Chief Election Commissioner Praveen Gupta, 1185 illegal weapons have been seized across the state since the implementation of the Lok Sabha election code of conduct. Additionally, 7 IEDs (bombs) have been recovered.

The police have also seized 2,303 cartridges, 4,129 kg of explosive material, and asked licensees to deposit their weapons in police stations. Out of the total 1,62,777 licenses issued in the state, 1,55,373 licensees have deposited their weapons.

To prevent any disturbances or incidents during the elections, the police and other agencies have identified over 4,000 suspicious individuals in different Lok Sabha constituencies. They will be kept under strict vigil during and after voting. The police have also identified vulnerable populations in different constituencies and will take necessary measures to ensure their safety.
