JAIPUR: Eleven trainee Sub Inspectors (SIs) and one constable, who were arrested for cheating in the SI Recruitment Examination-2021, have been granted bail by a court in Jaipur. The court had earlier ordered their judicial custody, but later granted them bail.

The accused had alleged that the Special Operations Group (SOG) officers had forcibly recorded details of money transactions in their old notebooks. Those who did not have old notebooks were made to write down the transactions on plain paper.

The SOG has also arrested a handler, Sanjay Kumar, in connection with the case. Sanjay Kumar was produced in court on Friday and remanded. According to the SOG, Sanjay Kumar is the handler of Unique Bhambu, the mastermind of the paper leak. His job was to deliver the papers to the candidates in his car and then take them to the centre.

During interrogation, Sanjay Kumar allegedly revealed that other handlers may also be involved in paper leaks. Further arrests are likely to be made soon.

The trainee SIs and constable were granted bail after an application was filed in court when their arrest was not shown even after 24 hours of interrogation by SOG without arresting them. The court approved their default bail application.
