Jaipur: The city reported 10 new Covid-19 cases on Friday. It is for the first time since August 5 that the total case count in 24 hours was in double-digit. This has rung alarm bells as the number of active cases are on the rise in the city.

According to the bulletin released by the health department, four new cases were reported in Banipark area of Jaipur, while three in Mansarovar. Ajmer Road, Gopalpura and Luniawas reported one new case each.

The rise in Covid-19 cases is a great cause of concern for the authorities as the city will play host to a T-20 match between India and New Zealand at SMS Stadium. Over 28,000 people are likely to gather in the stadium to watch the match. The schools are also going to open with 100% capacity for the students of all classes from November 15. Many parents complained that the government has taken this decision in a haste as there was no need to open schools in mid-term.

“I am not sure I am going to send my 12-year-old son to school. The school is going to discontinue online classes so parents are being forced to send children to attend classes. This is not justified,” said Subham Joshi, a resident of Mahesh Nagar.

The wedding season is also around the corner. The state government had lifted all restrictions before Diwali. The cinema halls are also operating with full capacity in the state now.
