1 killed, 12 injured in clashes over land dispute in Karuali
Jaipur: One man was killed, while 12 others were injured when two groups of people clashed over a land dispute in Karauli district of Rajasthan on Sunday. The people from one of the groups used iron rods and sharp-edged weapons to attack the people from the other group. The inured were rushed to a hospital in Hindaun town where an elderly man succumbed to injuries. The police have launched an investigation and rounded up some people for interrogation.
A dispute was going on between the groups over a piece of land in Alipura village near Hindaun for a long time. On Sunday, the two groups clashed. Nine people from one group and four people from other group were injured in the clashes. All were admitted to a hospital where an elderly man, identified as Megh Singh Jatav died. Others are still undergoing treatment.
The relatives of the man gathered at the hospital and didn’t let the authorities perform a postmortem examination demanding immediate arrest of the culprits. Senior police and administration officers tried to placate the agitating family members. Finally, the family members accepted the body.
The police have registered FIRs and further investigation is going on, an officer said.
