Jaipur: The Rajasthan Petroleum Dealers Association has announced a day-long strike in the state including capital city Jaipur on Saturday. The association has demanded that the VAT in the state should be equivalent to that in other neighboring states. They also called for a uniform VAT in all the districts. Most petrol pumps will remain closed on Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The association office-bearer said that the April 10 strike should act as a wake-up call for the state government. If the demands were not met, they will go on an indefinite strike starting April 25.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The government is likely to bear a revenue loss of Rs 34 crore due to the strike on Saturday. The association claimed that nearly 7000 petrol pumps will remain closed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe have submitted memorandums to the government several times in the past few days, but there has been no positive indication that the government is even considering our demands,\u201d said an association official.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In Rajasthan, the VAT on petrol is 36%, while it is 26% on diesel. In the neighboring state of Haryana, the VAT is 25% and 16% respectively. In Delhi, it is 30% and 16.75%. In Gujarat, it\u2019s 20% on petrol and diesel. Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh also have lower VAT compared to Rajasthan. The Ashok Gehlot government has increased VAT by 12% on petrol and 10% on diesel since it came to power, the association alleged.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
