Jaipur: Twenty-five students and two staffers of a government school for visually children in Udaipur on Friday tested positive for COVID-19, sending local administration into a tizzy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The students were living in the hostel of Pragya Chakshu Sansthan Andha Vidyalaya located near Ambamata area of Udaipur city. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe reports of 28 people have come positive, of which 25 are students and two others the school staff,\u201d a health official said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The entire area and its nearby locations have been earmarked as \u201ccontainment zone,\u201d and sanitization works are afoot to prevent further spread of the virus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Local health officials said that a teacher posted in the school had earlier on Thursday tested positive for coronavirus, after which samples were taken from students and other staff of the school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The incident has sounded alarm bells in the city which had lowered its guards following a steady decline in active cases for past three months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Udaipur health officials are tracing the contacts of people who visited the school in past 14 days. All students have been quarantined and placed under the supervision of doctors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
