Jaipur: Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) has started day-to-day monitoring of Dravyavati River project in order to get companies to finish work on time. A consortium of Tata Projects and Shanghai Urban Construction Group are tasked with completing the project by October, 2018.

However, companies involved in the project have apparently slowed down work as JDA is falling behind on payments for project milestones. The JDA has promised that loan for the project would be approved shortly. The civic body will release due payments shortly after loan approval.

JDC Vaibhav Galaria visited places where work on the project is undergoing. He instructed the companies to speed up the work.

JDC asked TATA Project to immediately resume work on parks to be developed near Pachipech, Mansarovar and Bambala. He also asked the company representatives to speed up construction of a walk-way on both sides of Dravyavati River. A 4 km long cycle track will also be constructed.

JDA continues to remove encroachments from Amanishah nala (nallah). JDA’s anti-encroachment wing removed encroachments from B-2 Bypass to Sanganer. Three houses, boundary walls and other small structures were removed.

The companies will construct more than 100 fall structures so that water flows in the river throughout the year. The river will never go dry.

The companies will also plant 16,000 trees and develop 65,000 square meters green area under this project. This will make it a tourist destination.

Around 180 acres of land will be transformed in terms of commercial development, as more and more real estate projects, MNCs, etc., will open up in the newly reclaimed places. More than 120 acres of land will be left for government use, according to the project report.

Dravyavati River is one of its kind projects in the country as efforts are being made to restore a river from a “dry and arid landscape”. It will not only become an environment friendly tourist destination, but also prevent flooding of Jaipur City.
