Jaipur: The municipal corporation elections in Jaipur, Kota and Jodhpur have been postponed keeping in view the possibility of Coronavirus outbreak. The elections will now be held in the first week of June. A double bench of Rajasthan high court gave an order in this regard on Wednesday. The state election commission had announced the election schedule recently. The voting was to take place on April 5. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Rajasthan government had approached the high court and\npleaded that the election be postponed as it could lead to the spread of\nCoronavirus. Many other public interest litigations had been filed in the high\ncourt. The court heard the PILs on Wednesday and said that the elections would\nbe postponed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In its plea, the government said that the adversaries have\nbeen issued in the public interest and there is a ban on the gathering of 50 or\nmore people. The election commission should comply with the guidelines. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The elections will be held in the first week of June. The double\nbench of Justice Sangeet Raj Lodha and Manoj Kumar Vyas directed the election commission\nto postpone elections. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
