The residents informed the police control room following which the cops swung into action. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The traffic on the road was stopped for a while when the information about the sighting of the wild animal was confirmed. Efforts were on to trace the panther which likely stayed into the area from the nearby Jhalana forests till the reports last came in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Eye-witnesses told forest department teams that the panther had walked to Takhteshahi Road from Narayan Niwas. The panther was then sighted at half a dozen homes in the area, creating panic among the local residents. The forest department teams are using drone cameras to trace the animal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe teams\nare searching the area. The presence of a panther is confirmed as some CCTVs have\ngrabbed the animal\u2019s movement in the area,\u201d said a senior official. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In September,\nSmriti Van situated on Jawahar Lal Nehru (JLN) Marg was closed temporarily\nfor people after sighting of a leopard. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are about 25 leopards in the Jhalana forest reserve.\nOne of the main reasons these animals stray into the residential colonies is\nthe lack of food and water in the forest area.
