Jaipur: Several political organizations have announced to launch protests against the Rajasthan government\u2019s decision to reintroduce toll tax for state highways in the state. The toll tax for state highways had been scrapped by the previous BJP government. Terming it as an election stunt, chief minister Ashok Gehlot said that the car owners can easily afford the tax and the revenue will be invested in the maintenance and upkeep of the state highways. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The BJP (Jaipur city) will organize a protest at Collectorate\nCircle in Banipark against the government\u2019s decision. The sit-in will start at\n11 am, according to The BJP Jaipur City district president Mohan Lal Gupta. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Gupta said that the previous BJP government had done away\nwith state highway toll tax after a lot of consideration. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt was not an election stunt. The people heaved a sigh of relief\nas they were being extorted by toll tax operators. The decision of the Congress\ngovernment is against the public sentiments,\u201d said Gupta. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hanuman Beniwal-led RLP has also announced a state-wide\nprotest. Beniwal told media persons that the Congress government is functioning\narbitrarily. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe would discuss the strategy for a state-wide protest with\nour leaders and MLAs. We will launch the protest against this decision. The agitation\nwill continue till the government withdraws its decision,\u201d said Beniwal. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
