Jaipur: Lion Safari at Nahargarh Biological Park has been\nshut amid reports that the wild animals are infected with Canine Dispenser\nVirus. Three big cats \u2013 two tigers and a lion \u2013 died over one week and the\nvirus is being suspected behind the deaths. The park authorities have decided\nto close the safari temporarily to provide treatment to the wild animals. The opening\nof Exotic Park has also been postponed so the visitors will have to wait longer\nto enjoy sighting of hippo that was brought to the park recently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The safari was closed on September 22 but since most\ntourists are not aware of this, they come to the park and return disappointed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is for the third time in the past one year that the Lion\nSafari has been closed for tourists. The safari was launched in October, 2018.\nThe visitors are taken on a tour of area spread over 36 hectares. Two tracks\nhas been built for safari for the sighting of three lions. Earlier the safari\nwas shut down in August due to heavy rains. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Thursday morning, Sita \u2013 the only white tigress of the\npark \u2013 died. Sita was 14-year-old and had been brought to Jaipur from Delhi zoo\nin 2013. Earlier, lioness \u2013 known as Sujain \u2013 and the cub of tigress Rambha\ndied under mysterious circumstances. The blood samples have been sent to IVRI\nin Bareilly for an examination, but the experts don\u2019t rule out the possibility\nthat the wild animals are infected with Canine Dispenser Virus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The visitors are disappointed when they reach Nahargarh\nBiological Park to go on a lion safari and are told that it has been closed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
