Jaipur: The raids conducted by Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Johari Bazaar of the city along with eight other places have apparently exposed a hawala racket being operated in the name of money exchange. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
ED has allegedly recovered documents suggesting that several shell companies were set up in India and Hong Kong for export-import and currency trading. The ED teams seized a cash amount of Rs 4.25 crore and documents indicating hawala transactions of crores of rupees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to ED officials, the raids were carried out at the\nplaces belonging to Kailash Khandelwal, his brother Kamal and aides MD Bangad\nand Kunal Laddha at their Johari Bazaar-situated offices and houses and houses\nin Vidhyadhar Nagar and Hanuman Nagar. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
ED suspects that the hawala network used to arrange foreign\ncurrencies including USD, Pounds, RMB and Euro at various locations aboard on\ndemand. On the other hand if someone wanted to transfer funds to India from\nabroad, the same was arranged by the network with the help of people involved in\nthe hawala trade. The funds were transferred using bank accounts or were\nsettled in cash. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
ED also found the alleged connection between gold smugglers\nand the hawala network. It is suspected that the hawala network used to arrange\nfunds for people smuggling gold into India from Dubai. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, ED has also attached assets worth Rs. 17.05\ncrores while investigating the alleged fraud by Arbuda Credit Co-operative\nSociety Ltd – a multi state co-operative society. The properties attached\ninclude a hotel in Mount Abu (Abu Grand), farm houses, under construction real\nestate projects & residential properties in Rajasthan owned by Rakesh Kumar\nAgrawal alias Bobby. Rakesh who is managing director of the society is a resident\nof Mount Abu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
ED had initiated investigations under Prevention of Money\nLaundering Act, 2002 (PMLA) against Arbuda Credit Co-operative Society Ltd and\nothers after Gujarat Police registered a case against them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is alleged that Rakesh Kumar and others through Arbuda\nCredit Co-operative Society and its lured the gullible investors to deposit\nmoney in various schemes of the Credit Society, by promising them higher\nreturns. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The entities collected money from innocent people and\nsubsequently siphoned it off through one Ashtha Real Estate and used the same\nfor other businesses and construction of various immovable properties. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
