Jaipur: The ban imposed on mobile internet services following communal\ntension in Ramganj and many nearby areas is affecting normal life and business\nin the Walled City colonies and markets. The traders said that the customers\nare avoiding the markets due to the tension and also as they are unable to book\ntaxies. Digital payments are also not working.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The administration had suspended internet services in 10 police station\nareas on Tuesday following communal clashes for two days in a row. The people\nfrom two communities started a confrontation at Rawalji Chauraha and Badanpura.\nMore than 30 vehicles were damaged and 10 people injured in the stone pelting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ban was extended to 15 police station areas on Thursday keeping in view\nthe heavy security arrangements on Independence Day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ban will be in force on Friday also. The people in Transport Nagar, Moti\nDoongari, Jawahar Nagar, Ramganj, Galta Gate, Manak Chowk, Adarsh Nagar,\nSubhash Chowk, Brahmapuri, Nahargarh, Kotwali, Sanjay Circle, Shashtri Nagar,\nBhatta Basti and Lalkoti police station areas are not able to access the\ninternet due to the ban. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPeople are not able to make payments digitally so that they can\u2019t book\ntaxies and are not able to pay for merchandise in the Walled City areas. They\nare also avoiding the markets due to the communal tension. Our business has\nsuffered greatly due to this,\u201d said Ramdhan Agarwal, a Subhash Chowk-based\ntrader. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The chief minister Ashok Gehlot will take a meeting of senior police\nofficers including the DGP to discuss the prevailing law and order situation in\nthe communally sensitive areas. He said that the miscreants involved in causing\ncommunal tension will not be spared and brought to book. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The tension was triggered on Sunday when some people attacked people from\nanother community. The clashes were reported on Monday. The tension escalated\nsince Tuesday morning as there were reports of people hurling stones on a\nreligious place in Galta Gate area. The police appealed for peace and harmony\nbut people again started a confrontation in the evening, causing the police to\nclamp section 144 of CrPC. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
