Jaipur: Video, photo and text messages went viral in\nWhatsApp groups in Jaipur on Monday as the central government announced to remove\nthe Article 370 that gave Jammu and Kashmir the special status. The special\nstatus was in existence for decades in Kashmir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The government declared Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh as\nunion territories. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Arpana Sharma, a resident of Sodala, said that the Narendra\nModi government should be congratulated for the much-awaited move. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIndia is a united national. A special status was confusing\nas to whether J&K is part of the country or not,\u201d said Arpana. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She said that her WhatsApp inbox was inundated with photos\nand text messages from his friends and relatives as soon as Amit Shah, the home\nminister, made the announcement revoking Article 370 of the Constitution in the\nupper house of Parliament on Monday morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Another city resident Navneet Singh said that the Narendra\nModi government finally fulfilled its poll plank. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt is a historic move which shows the government\u2019s willingness\nto bring about tough changes. The decision will send a strong signal about the\nIndian government\u2019s strength in the international community,\u201d said Kamesh\nPachar, a resident of Jhotwara. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The police is on high alert in Jaipur and across the state. Extra police\nforce has been deployed in communally-sensitive areas to keep an eye on law and\norder situation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Article 370 meant the state’s residents live under a\nseparate set of laws, including those related to citizenship, ownership of\nproperty, and fundamental rights, as compared to other Indians.
