Jaipur: The Rajasthan anti-corruption bureau (ACB) seized Rs 53.13 lakh cash\nand jewellery worth about Rs 17 lakh from the house and other places belonging\ntoassistant commercial tax officer (ACTO) who was arrested on Friday for\nallegedly taking a bribe along with retired LDC Ravi Pareek. The agency has\nalso recovered documents related to 21 bank accounts, FDs worths lakhs of\nrupees, locker, insurance policies and ownership of several cars including an\nAudi. She and Ravi Pareek were produced in a court that remanded them in judicial\ncustody. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The officer \u2013 Anshuiya Kumari \u2013 was caught while accepting the bribe for\nissuing a refund though LDC Ravi Pareek, ACB officials said. The ACB booked\nthem under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act and carried\nsearches at the officer\u2019s residence and other places belonging to her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe searches were completed by Saturday. We have recovered wealth\ndisproportionate to the officer\u2019s known sources of income. We are still in the\nprocess of totalling the value of all movable and immovable properties found in\nthe name of the officer and her family members,\u201d said a senior ACB officer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He added that the bank accounts and\nlockers have been sealed and will be searched in the coming days. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to senior ACB officials, a complaint had been received against the\nofficer. As per the complaint, she was demanding a 20% commission for issuing a\nrefund. After receiving the complaint, the ACB verified it and when it was\nfound genuine, a trap was laid. The ACB complainant negotiated with the officer\nand agreed to pay 15% of the refund amount as bribe, the officials said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
