Jaipur: Guruprasad Mohapatra, the Chairman of Airports\nAuthority of India, said here on Thursday that the privatisation of Jaipur\nairport was under process. He refuted the reports that the Rajasthan government\nhad raised any objections over the privatisation. He said the letter wrote by\nthe state government couldn\u2019t be treated as an objection. It was just a\ncommunication between AAI and the government. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mohapatra was commenting on the letter wrote by the government to AAI\nseeking explanation how the airport can be handed over to a private group\nwithout the permission from the state Civil Aviation Directorate of Rajasthan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The land for Jaipur airport had been allotted by the state free of cost, so\nit should be taken into confidence before the management is handed over to\nAdani Group, as the government argued in the letter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe process of Jaipur airport privatisation is going on. The\nletter of award has already been issued for three of the six airports. The\nformalities are being completed for three remaining airports including Jaipur\nInternational Airport,\u201d Mohapatra told media persons in Jaipur. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mohapatra was in Jaipur on Thursday. He inspected the under-construction building\nof airport terminal. He also met chief secretary DB Gupta at state\nsecreteriate. He is learnt to have discussed the issues concerning land acquisition\nfor Jaipur, Jodhpur and other airports in Rajasthan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In February, the Adani group placed a bid of Rs 175 per passenger for Jaipur\nand five other airports, becoming the highest bidder. No other company could go\nbeyond the rate. The six airports will be under the Adani group for the next 50\nyears once the MoU is signed between the airport authority and the company.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
