Jaipur: A tiger, popularly known as ST \u2013 16, died after he was tranquilized at Sariska tiger reserve situated in Alwar district of Rajasthan. The tiger was wounded, so a forest department team tranquilized him for treatment. He didn\u2019t gain consciousness. The forest department declared him dead. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was yet unclear whether there was any negligence on part of the tranquilization team; however, wildlife activists demanded a probe and a strict action against responsible officials if the tiger died due to overdose of tranquilizing agents. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The wildlife activists criticized the incident which became\nyet another blog on the image of Sariska tiger reserve. The reports of the\ndeaths of tigers in Sariska in human-animal conflicts, poaching and territorial\nfights have already brought a bad name to this famous tiger sanctuary of\nRajasthan, situated nearly 120 km from Jaipur. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
A senior forest department officer told The PinkCity Post that\nwhat caused the tiger\u2019s death is under investigation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt will be too early to say that he might have died of the\noverdose. There could be another reason. The body of the tiger has been sent\nfor a post-mortem examination. We are awaiting the report. We will take\nappropriate action if any negligent is found on part of the team that tranquilized\nthe tiger,\u201d said the officer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
