Jaipur: Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) commissioner\nremoved deputy commissioner of animal control branch following the reports of negligence\nin dealing with the menace of street dogs in the city. Street dogs have\nattacked and bitten more than 30 people over the past one week in various areas\nof the city, particularly Malviya Nagar. The deputy commissioner \u2013 Bhomaram Saini\n\u2013 was served a show-cause notice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The JMC commissar visited many areas in Mansarovar and\nSanganer zones and found many irregularities related to stray animals. He immediately\nremoved the deputy commissioner of animal control branch and served him a\nshow-cause notice. The acting charge has been given to Ramkishore Mehta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
An NGO \u2013 Firm Human Welfare Society \u2013 has the contract of\ncatching street dogs. There were reports that NGO caught nearly 8200 dogs in 11\nmonths. The JMC was to pay the NGO Rs 60 lakh, but the payment of only Rs 5\nlakh was made. The NOG stopped working on May 10. Its officials complained that\nthey were unable to provide salary to the workers engaged in catching street\ndogs due to the lack of funds. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The street dogs seriously injured 10 people in Malviya Nagar\non Sunday. The incident came a day after the street dogs bit an 6-year-old girl\nin Patrakar Colony. The child is battling for life at a hospital, according to\nthe family members. On Monday, a 4-year-old child \u2013 identified as Shoryavardhan\nSingh – was attacked by a group of dogs when he was playing outside his house\nin Malviya Nagar sector \u2013 5.
