Jaipur: The menace of street dogs continues in the city. A\nday after at least 10 people were bitten by street dogs, a 4-year-old child \u2013\nidentified as Shoryavardhan Singh \u2013 became the latest victim of the Jaipur\nMunicipal Corporation\u2019s negligence. He was attacked by a group of dogs when he\nwas playing outside his house in Malviya Nagar sector \u2013 5 on Monday evening. He\nsustained serious bite wounds and was admitted to a hospital for treatment. His\nfamily members are shocked over the incident. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The animals control branch of JMC is responsible for catching\nstreet dogs. Sources said that the contractor who was awarded the tender of\ncatching the street animals has not been paid for the past seven months, so his\ncompany has stopped the work. The contractor gets nearly Rs 865 for catching a\nstreet dog. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe will soon approve the pending payment and the work on\ncatching the stray dogs will start. The stay dogs are released after sterilization.\nIt helps control the population of dogs in the city,\u201d said the officer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Despite repeated complaints, the JMC officials responsible\nfor controlling the menace have not visited Malviya Nagar where dog bites are\nbeing reported almost daily. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
A six-year-old girl was attacked and then bitten by street dogs\nin Malviya Nagar on Saturday. She was admitted to the ICU of a private hospital\nand her condition is critical. Similarly, at least 10 dogs were bitten by\nstreet dogs in various locations of Malviya Nagar. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe are complaining about this problem almost daily, but the\nJMC officials have now stopped responding to our calls. No one from JMC has\nvisited the neighbourhoods affected by this menace,\u201d said a local resident. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
