Jaipur: The Rajasthan government has put SP Alwar Rajeev\nPachar and suspended Thanagazi SHO Sardar Singh for the alleged negligence in\nthe case of gang rape with a dalit woman in front of her husband by five youths\nin Alwar district last month. The SP himself was put on awaiting posting orders\nby the Rajasthan government. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The police have arrested the main accused, identified as\nIndraj Gurjar \u2013 a resident of Pragpura, while the hunt is on for four other\nsuspects. Four other policemen were also removed from active duty and sent to\nreserve lines pending further enquiry. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Senior police officials said that action would be taken\nagainst those who shared the video on social media platforms. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The incident took a political color with the BJP accusing\nthe Congress-led state government of deliberately hushing up the matter to\navoid backlash before the voting for the Lok Sabha elections. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
BJP state president Madan Lal Saini said the incident had\nexposed the lawlessness in Rajasthan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe chief minister should resign. The government, police\nand administration are insensitive even 12 days after the incident,\u201d Saini told\nmedia persons. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The BJP has constituted a three-member committee comprising\nof Rajkumar Varma, Suman Sharma and Jyoti Kiran Shukla.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The committee is in Thanagazi and will visit the victim and\nher family. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The incident happened on April 26 when the victim was on her way home with\nher husband on thanagazi-Alwar bypass. Five youths on two bikes intercepted the\nhusband\u2019s bike and took them to a nearby isolated area. The youths were in\ntheir mid 20s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They beat up the husband and then tied him up. The five men gang raped the\nwoman while the husband witnessed the horrifying ordeal. The victim told the\npolice that the accused men were addressing each \u2013 other with names including\nChhote Lal alias Sachin, Jitu and Ashok. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThey made a video of the gang rape and made it viral on WhatsApp and other\nsocial media platforms. They threatened the victim that they would murder her\nhusband if she told anyone about the incident,\u201d said a police officer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The woman was scared and didn\u2019t approach the police for five days. She\nfinally registered a complaint.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
